The traditional African women prefer dresses that are unique to their culture. This means that the traditional African wedding dresses are not always white. The colors would reflect their individual culture.
The Traditional Xhosa wedding dresses
An example of traditional african wedding dresses are the South African Xhosa wedding dress. It is a white linen with black as a feature point. These are often reflected in the striped binding sewn on at the seam edge.
The Traditional Zulu wedding dresses
This too is a South African based tribe. Their traditional african wedding dresses are not white either, although some do include this in the ceremony.
The Zulu woman would wear a heavily embroidered skirt that is short enough to show off the bangles on her legs. To these brides the focus is on the traditional beads that can also cover the entire dress.
In both these cultures the headdress plays an important role, and are part of teh attire.
